Art Talks 3 / Susannah Bolton

Our next ART TALKS is on Friday 2nd August, when we'll meet artist Susannah Bolton who will be talking about landscape and homesickness, and about using textile process as a way to explore and embody those feelings.

"How would Nan Shepherd cope with housewifery? Would she too unload the washing machine to find the Glacier of Rosenlaui in 200 thread count cotton?

My fine art practice centres around relationships to landscapes and environments, centred on my personal feelings of displacement and yearning having moved from the Hebrides. I use weaving and knitting to enact geological process on a handheld scale, the sedimentary nature of the process building a core sample.

Join Susannah at the Surrey Art School studio to hear more about relating to your locality and creating with sustainability in mind, and to see her current tapestry on the loom and how it is woven."

As usual we'll be opening up the studio so you can have a good look around, have a cuppa, a nice slice of cake and find out a bit more about our tutors and what we do here at Surrey Art School!
