Improver’s Calligraphy Workshops
Got to grips with basic letter-forms and keen to learn more?
Our long awaited Improver’s workshops will add depth and dimension to your practice! You’ll work with a new pen-holder, coloured inks and a brause nib to broaden your understanding of the basic strokes and open up new ways of working with letter-forms!
This class is suitable for all students from our Beginner’s Modern Calligraphy workshop or for those who have some experience of calligraphy. You should be comfortable using a dip pen and creating basic letter-forms and varying your stroke thickness using the pressure of the pen (as covered in Beginners Workshop)
Saturday 13th July 2019 / 1:30 to 4:00 pm / Only 3 spaces left! Next workshop: Saturday 26th October 2019 / 1:30 to 4:00 pm
What to expect:
This workshop builds upon the knowledge and practice learnt in the beginner workshop. We start with some warm-up strokes and drills before reviewing the basic letter-forms. Then we take a look at common connectors and alternate letter-forms before trying our hand at some simple flourishes.
The second part of the workshop will focus on developing our own style and we'll get the chance to try out some coloured inks. The final project involves writing out a short quote, pulling together all the skills learned in the class!
Expect a friendly, in depth and fully supported development session where you’ll evolve from simply tracing letterforms to learning to work more independently using guidelines and more expressive strokes.
What we provide: An Improver’s Workshop Kit with new pen-holder, brauss nib, two different types of ink, a frisk layout pad and a whole new set of worksheets to support your learning.
