Paper Marbling for young artists (7+)
Marbling is such a magical process - why should us adults keep it for ourselves? This half term we’re delighted to bring to the table a youth marbling class for young artists who would like a taste of the magic!
Studio Location: All workshops take place in our fully equipped studio: The Old Dairy, Dean House Farm, Newdigate, Dorking, RH5 5DL. The studio is located in a beautiful rural setting with stunning views and plenty of free parking onsite. There is a lovely garden where parents can stay and have a cuppa or you are welcome to drop and go too!
Workshop date: Wednesday 29th May 2019
Workshop time: 14:30 to 16:00
Workshop location: Surrey Art School, Dean House Farm, RH55DL
Workshop tutor: Ebru Kocak
Why should we let the adults have all the fun?
Our young artists also need a chance to slow down, unwind their minds - and this process of painting on water is the perfect activity for any budding artist looking for a simple way to explore colour and form.
Working on a slightly smaller scale than our adult workshops, they’ll learn the traditional Ebru patterns - from Battal to come and go, before having the chance to simply play with the paint on the surface of the water, discovering new and uncharted patterns of their own.
Once they are happy with their design, they’ll be shown how to pull a print from the surface of the water to take home and keep.
This is so far removed from any marbling they will have done at school - we work with the traditional natural ebru materials, creating a thickened water bath using moss and using only hand-made natural pigments.
The results are not only magical, they are decidedly ‘grown up’ and the colours are stunning.
Join us for an Ebru marbling special that’s just for kids and lets get mindful this half term. Parents are welcome to drop and go, or stay and watch if they prefer!
