" I'm a self-taught artist living in the South Downs National Park with my husband and three dogs. I've always taken huge pleasure in painting and drawing animals. My dad introduced me to Watercolour - with its magical qualities - when I was a child. I've never lost that buzz I get when I let the colours wash together, to form something unique and beautiful."

If you’ve got the winter blues and are looking for a little class that will get you feeling a little more chirpy and ready for Spring then join us for our first ever Blue-tit Painting Masterclass led by the oh so lovely Jane Davies Watercolours!

This unique masterclass allows you access to one of our true local talents. Jane will introduce you to some of her work and her working methods using the wet-on-wet watercolour technique.

You will receive practical guidance on how to wet your paper, add colour, subtract certain areas - working with artist quality pigments and watching them spread loosely across the page.

Jane will break down each step of the process for creating these lovely birds - from setting a wash for the background, to drawing out the main body shape and adding colour, to creating the delicate branch for your little bird to sit on. She’ll share ideas for little flourishes too - from flicking the paint to working in depth through layering the paint.

At the end of the workshop you’d work on a pre-stretched board to create your own response to the workshop, applying some of the techniques learned earlier on in the session. You’ll also be given a little mount for your work so its ready to take home and frame.

Expect a relaxed informal atmosphere with a chance to ask lots of questions and to develop your technical skill with watercolours under Jane’s gentle guidance.
