In this 3 week course led by our 3D specialist Abilu you will learn how to mix, pour, dip and cast using Plaster of Paris to create unique artworks.
A fantastic dynamic programme that will build your confidence in making and moulding with this stunning modelling material.
Week 1: Dip and Mix
Hand mixing, working with and setting Plaster of Paris. Learn how to dip and coat natural forms such as flowers, leaves, acorns. Understand different grades, setting points and drying speed.
Week 2: Create a leaf cast
Create a full plaster cast leaf. You will learn how coat natural forms with plaster, how to strengthen with cloth and how to add hooks to create a beautiful hanging artwork for your home.
Week 3: Cast a relief tile
In this session you'll work with clay to create a casting mould - building up the walls of your mould and creating beautiful impressions using natural materials. We'll teach you how to create a series of unique plaster cast tiles using this exciting relief casting process.
What to expect: A cosy, friendly fully equipt studio setting. Expert tuition and a sense of confidence and independence in your practice.
What to bring: Just yourselves. Aprons, refreshment, biscuits and banter are all available in abundance.
