There is no such thing as talent. What they call talent is nothing but the capacity for doing continuous work in the right way.
This half term we are inviting young artists into the studio for a full day of print-making led by passionate Photographer, print-maker and SAS founder Ellie Green.
Ellie will be encouraging these budding creatives to explore the full potential of print-making as a process, working with artist quality materials to produce a series of professional prints to take home on the day!
Workshop date: Tuesday 29th May 2018
Workshop time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Workshop Location: Surrey Art School, Dean House Farm, RH5 5DL
Age range: 8-16 years / suitable for absolute beginners
Our introduction to print-making kick off with a morning workshop exploring mono-printing with natural objects, experimenting with abstraction, incorporating drawing and other mark-making methods to create a series of mono-type prints.
The beauty of the mono-type is that each print is completely unique and each print pulled - a new discovery!
Through mono-printing students will learn to work with and to control vegetable oil based ink which produces stunning detail and vibrant colours using a simple hand-burnishing technique.
We'll take a short break for lunch followed by a further workshop exploring relief printing with Lino.
Our artists will learn how to carve a lino block in a variety of different ways to make use of the negative space on the plate and learn to work with the cutting tools with control and style!
By the end of the day our young artists will have produced multiple prints exploring different techniques and tools for mark-making, getting creative with colour and more!
Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to operate our professional printing press - to produce artist-quality outcomes!
Ellie is fully CRB checked and has over a decade of experience teaching both young people and adults.
