Mindful Photography Walk at Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden

Wednesday 5th June 2024 | 13:30 to 15:30 | Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden

'Mindfulness is about slowing down, being fully present in the moment, and receiving that moment. The exact same words apply to the process of making photographs. For me, to photograph is to be fully present in the moment. Because when I photograph nothing else enters my mind.'

Photography is a gentle and accessible way to engage with the natural landscape and sculptural works on display at Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden. Join Surrey Art School founder Ellie Green for a guided walk around the garden where she'll share her methods for slowing down and engaging in mindful observation of your surroundings. Lean into the Art of Photography as moving meditation and learn some technical tricks to improve your digital photography skills.

At the end of the walk we'll gather for tea, locally roasted coffee & homemade cake, and a chance to review some of the shots we took on our walk together.

Wild Bees in Watercolour with Wild Tea & Cake at The Salt Box

Friday 14th June 2024 | 10:30 to 13:00 | The Salt Box | RH1 4EU

Embrace the rising energy of summer and learn to paint wild bees under the gentle tutorage of Ellie from Surrey Art School.

Working with a mixture of inks and vibrant watercolours we’ll use beginner-kind wet on wet watercolour techniques to find the shapes of fluffy bumblebees.  With a few further flicks of the brush and some delightfully translucent wings – your bees will be ready to fly

All materials, freshly brewed tea and coffee and a wildly inspired sweet treat are included in this seasonal workshop.

Wildflower Botanical Painting & Seasonal Lunch at The Salt Box

Friday 12th July 2024 | 10:30 to 13:30 | The Salt Box | RH1 4EU

See you in the meadow this summer, when the fields are in full bloom, for a beautiful botanically-inspired workshop suitable for beginners. Ellie will share some gentle & soothing techniques for painting seasonal herbs and native wildflowers in vibrant watercolours. You’ll learn how to use a range of brushes to capture wild stems, leaves and blooms.

Once you’ve learned some of the core techniques, Ellie will invite you to ‘make a meadow’ of your own – choosing your favourite flowers from the ‘creative buffet’ on offer. All materials, freshly brewed tea and coffee and a delicious light lunch are included in this seasonal workshop.

Drawing on the Lawn | Summer Pen & Wash at Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden

Wednesday 17th July 2024 | 13:30 to 7:00 | Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden

In this summer inspired workshop we'll delve into the textures and colours of the garden in full bloom. Spending a gentle afternoon drawing on the lawn, we'll begin by learning some loose sketching techniques in pencil. We'll then refine our drawings in fine-liner, adding dotting, line and shadow work to bring our outline sketches to life. At the end of the workshop we'll bring vibrancy to our drawings, adding a splash of artist quality watercolours to our designs.

We'll provide all the materials you’ll need for this workshop (brushes, paper, drawing board, watercolour paper) and you’ll get a 0.3 and 0.5 black fine-liner and some samples of Daniel Smith Artist Watercolour paint to take away on the day!  The afternoon will be broken into two workshops, with a break for tea, locally roasted coffee and scrumptious homemade cakes midway through.

Guests are welcome to stay util 6pm to explore the Sculpture Garden further - perhaps employing some of the lessons gleaned earlier in the day, or taking time to relax & unwind in the serene setting.

Nature Printing Workshop with Wild Tea & Cake

Friday 13th September 2024 | 10:30 to 13:00 | The Salt Box | RH1 4EU

Join Ellie and create beautiful hand-made botanical mono-prints using the surrounding woodland as inspiration. You’ll be working with vegetable oil based inks that are totally non-toxic and capture the stunning detail of the textures of nature with stunning photographic results – no matter your skill level.

By the end of the workshop you’ll come away with multiple prints from leaves, feathers and whatever else you can find in the forest - giving you the chance to take a little bit of the beautiful woodland home with you on the day.

All materials, freshly brewed tea and coffee and a wildly inspired sweet treat are included in this seasonal workshop.
