Workshop Menu

As members of Surrey Hills AONB and passionate lovers of the local flora and fauna - our workshop menu is beautifully attuned to the seasons - with some only coming round once a year and some here as a staple including Modern calligraphy workshops running all year through! Our workshops are fun-filled sessions to enjoy with friends - you'll come away with the thrill of a new skill and something beautiful in your hands.

Modern Calligraphy & Brush Lettering

Modern Calligraphy and Brush Lettering have hit the creative world by storm over the last couple of years - working with lettering really opens up a world of possibilities for creating your own gift tags, greetings cards or simply as a way of switching off from a busy life and tuning into an analog process for a few hours. And the best bit? It doesn’t matter how messy your hand-writing is, anyone can learn this skill!

Casting & Ceramics

If you’re ready to take your creative practice into the third dimension we have a gorgeous range of Plaster Casting and Ceramic workshops available on our menu. Re-discover the calming qualities of clay or find that sense of wonder with our magical botanical casting workshop. This is mindful creativity at its best and the results are so stunning they will blow your mind too!

Painting is such a relaxing way to record the world around you and the good news is, once you know a few technical tricks, its an absolute breeze to master.

We offer a range of watercolour workshops as well as a rare chance to paint on water with our paper marbling workshops!

Summer is coming, the sun is out and 'drawing with light' expert and SAS founder Ellie Green is back with her super popular Cyanotype Masterclass this season! You’ll learn how to mix chemicals to create a photo-sensitive solution before making your own photography paper and creating ‘exposures’ using sun-light. A powerful way to create photographs without a camera!

Here at SAS we could not be more passionate about print-making! Whether you are just beginning your journey with print and need a few tips on how to get started or you’re looking to add a little more depth and dimension to your practice, we have everything you need in our fully equipped studio to spark your imagination and get you growing!

Weaving for Well-being

Weaving is proven to have a positive impact on our overall sense of well-being.

We believe that weaving helps you BREATHE, gives the mind a little break as it just does what its told for a minute and sits quietly. There’s a slow, calm and super meditative nature to letting your hands do the talking.

Courses at Surrey Art School

Most of our workshops offer a gentle introduction, a starting point for beginning your journey. Our full day courses offer depth and breadth to your practice - you'll have the chance to experiment, make mistakes and play - digging a little deeper and building confidence with expert tuition from friendly experienced tutors

Courses with Paul Wye

Paul Wye (MA Printmaking) is an expert Print-maker who specialises in unusual and highly innovative print practices - from drypoint etching, to kitchen lithography and this season - Photo-lithography If you've never heard of this process, its all the more reason to give it a try and if you want to learn, Wye is your guy!

Learn to Draw Course

Drawing is simply taking a line for a walk - Paul Klee. Does it seem that simple to you? If drawing feels like a chore and you’d like to learn more about how to loosen up your line, let it flow with ease and glow with light and shadow then our learn to draw course is just what you need!
