Welcome to our Autumn Term Shop Collection where we’ve curated a selection of materials to inspire your Autumn season’s creative adventures. For me, the Autumn is all about sketching - be it with a pencil, a fine-liner, a brush pen or even inks. This time evokes warm tones and we explore textures that reveal themselves as the light changes and the colours shift to yellows, browns and warm sepia hues.

Drawing in the Autumn

As the Autumn season arrives, we take our cues from the trees and draw our energy in, back to our roots, to sustain us over the darker seasons ahead. Drawing is a great way to bring a feeling of calm and focus to our minds and bodies and this Autumn season we’ll be sketching the hedgerows, working with biros, water soluble pencils and perhaps a pastel pencil or two to add a sharp finish to our seasonal sketching!

Ink-spiration for Autumn

As delving a little deeper into making our own Inks over the Autumn season of Sketchbook Club - we’ll certainly be making good use of our waterproof fine-liners as well as the glorious black and sepia toned drawing inks. We’re also rather excited to try this NEW Walnut Ink by Daniel Smith we expect you will be too!

Paint the seasons

Our subscription box over on Sketchbook Club includes some stunning seasonal colours this Autumn - adding Quinacridone Violet, Aussie Red Gold, Indigo and Transparent Pyrrol Orange to our seasonal palette of paints. If you fall in love with any of the above, they are now available in a handy, more affordable 5ml format. You’ll also need a basic set of watercolour paints like the Aquafine sets below and a decent watercolour brush to work with this season!

Autumn paper and surfaces

We cannot resist a new surface or texture to work on and this season, alongside our growing range of Bockingford Watercolour Paper, we’ve managed to get out mitts on some beautiful tinted watercolour paper in an Oatmeal tone - perfect for the warm hues of the Autumn season.

Autumn for Print-makers

Keen to get into Print this Autumn? We have a small but growing range of print supplies for those of you keen to scratch that itch, or those already a member of our growing online Print Club Community. If you’re just starting out, our Mono-printing Starter Pack is highly recommended although we’ll be adding more professional tools to this section soon!
